Backups

Backing up your work is critical. I can't stress enough the importance of having back ups of your work. I have compiled a few tips here.

1. )  Write your articles and copy for your website in a word processor , then copy paste them over to your website. Or you can write into your website then copy paste it into a word processor, make sure you do both. The order does not matter. It is the end result that matters.

2. )   Back up the files in step one onto another media, a good modern example is to have 2 flash drives. That holds nothing else. Only your web files and pictures

3. )  Did you make a 2nd backup in step 2?...Good, take or send it to a trusted relative or friend. If you do this, you now have a backup at another location. In my days as a volunteer firefighter it was heart breaking to see someone lose years of work after it got destroyed by fire or other disaster, like a flood.

4. ) Option, sign up for a cloud storage solution. There are some big names and some smaller brands that can do this. Tip: You can create your very own cloud storage on your web hosting package.

5. ) You can create a backup with cPanel. This is a full backup, you can use this backup to easily switch web hosting companies.

6. ) It is your responsibility to take care of your own backups.
